Binance CEO Changpeng Zhao, also known as CZ, has disputed his recent inclusion on Bloomberg’s Finance Rich List, calling it “fake news”. The list claimed that CZ’s personal fortune was worth $28.2 billion, but he has stated that this figure is incorrect and that his actual worth is much lower. CZ also corrected the supporting text, saying he never viewed the now-defunct FTX exchange as a rival.
The Binance CEO responded to the Bloomberg Rich List entry by typing “4”, which signifies ignoring fear, uncertainty, doubt (FUD,) fake news, and attacks. CZ expressed concerns over the motives behind inflating the numbers and stated that he is a “small potato” in a burgeoning industry and not in the same league as billionaires such as Elon Musk and Vladimir Putin. Bloomberg’s Finance Rich List ranks the top 26 money moguls by their purported wealth, with Citadel’s Ken Griffin at the top of the list with a net worth of $35 billion.
