YouTube announced several upcoming artificial intelligence (AI) features, all designed to help users create and share short videos more easily and effectively. One of the most exciting new features is Dream Screen, which will allow users to generate AI-powered backgrounds and settings for their videos. Dream Screen will be available for YouTube Shorts, the platform’s short-form video format.
Another new feature is Insights, which will help users create new video ideas and draft outlines. Insights will use AI to analyze user data and provide personalized recommendations for video topics and content. YouTube will also introduce an assistive search tool that will help video creators discover music, and a dubbing feature called “Aloud” that will help users translate their video audio to other languages.
In addition to these features, YouTube is also introducing new tools that allow users to remix and reimagine their existing videos. For example, users will be able to generate new video clips based on prompts, such as “a panda drinking coffee.” Finally, YouTube is launching a new mobile app called YouTube Create, which is currently in beta in some markets. YouTube Create offers a variety of video editing tools, including automatic captions, voiceover tools, and other effects.
YouTube’s new AI features will begin rolling out in 2024. Dream Screen will be the first feature to launch, followed by Insights, assistive music search, and Aloud. The new remixing and reimagining tools are expected to launch later in the year. While YouTube is not currently planning to allow users to create videos entirely generated by AI, the company’s integration with its AI assistant, Bard, could open up new possibilities in the future.
