How did you decide on the University of Maryland and the Robert H. Smith School of Business for your higher education? Were there specific factors that attracted you to this institution and program?
When deciding on the University of Maryland and the Robert H. Smith School of Business for my higher education, there were specific factors that attracted me to this institution and program. Firstly, I wanted to explore opportunities outside of the tri-state area, but still be close enough to home for convenience. The University of Maryland offered that perfect balance, allowing me to experience a new environment while maintaining a reasonable distance from my family. Having an older sister who attended Maryland played a significant role in my decision. Her positive experiences and recommendations about the university influenced me to consider it seriously. As I entered the University of Maryland, I was uncertain about my career path and had no clear idea of what I wanted to pursue in life. Initially, I started on the pre-med track, contemplating the possibility of becoming a doctor. However, as I progressed, I discovered that my interests lie elsewhere, and I didn’t have the passion for a medical career. This realization prompted me to transition into business school. Even in business school, I remained undecided about my specific area of focus. At one point, I considered pursuing law, but as time went on, my plans shifted once again. I’ve definitely demonstrated a tendency to change my mind frequently, and it wouldn’t be surprising if I find myself pursuing something entirely different twenty years from now.
What were some of the most valuable lessons you learned during your time at the university, both inside and outside the classroom?
During my time at the university, both inside and outside the classroom, I learned some valuable lessons. One of the most significant lessons was that nothing would be handed to me on a silver platter. While the university provided me with a foundational education, I understood that achieving my goals would be solely up to me. If I wanted something, it would be my responsibility to go out and pursue it actively. I realized that sitting back and waiting for things to fall into my lap is never the best approach. Instead, I needed to push myself relentlessly until I achieved what I wanted.
Looking back at your childhood and school years, how do you think these experiences have influenced and shaped the person you are today?
Looking back at my childhood and school years, I can see how those experiences have totally influenced the person I am today. They’ve completely changed the way I see the world, especially in the business. I used to be pretty passive and introverted, but now I’ve got a newfound hunger to go after what I want and be more relentless.
If I had this mindset earlier on, I think my life would’ve been way better off. But you can’t keep dwelling on the past and regret things, you know? That won’t get you anywhere. So, I’m all about focusing on the present and the future, making the most out of this new me, and pushing myself to be even better every single day.
What advice would you give to your younger self based on the lessons you’ve learned and experiences you’ve had during your educational journey?
If I could give advice to my younger self, based on the lessons I’ve learned during my educational journey, I would say, “Hey, chill out a bit! Don’t take life too seriously, or you’ll miss out on the joy of it all.” Looking back, I think I was always a bit more serious and mature for my age, and now I wish I hadn’t been that way. Being a little less serious would have allowed me to live in the moment more, fully embracing the present without worrying too much about the future. It’s essential to let go of unnecessary stress and focus on enjoying life as it happens. My advice, not just to my younger self, but to everyone, is to be present and not fret over things beyond our control. You know you hear the phrase and I hate when people use it, “Life’s too short to spend it constantly worrying about what might happen”, but I think it is necessary to think about it once in a while to put things into perspective. Instead, make the most of every moment and savor the experiences that come your way.
How has your experience with the Food Recovery Network shaped your perspective on social impact and volunteerism?
I stumbled upon this organization during my senior year of school and looking back, I regret not knowing about it earlier in my educational journey. To me, giving back to the community you live in is incredibly important, and it becomes even more crucial when it involves helping to feed hungry people. If you’ve ever been to a university dining hall, you’ve probably witnessed the vast amounts of food that often go to waste. It’s disheartening to see so much food being thrown out when there are people in need. The Food Recovery Network plays a vital role in reducing food waste and providing essential support to homeless individuals. I’m glad to be part of this organization and contribute to such a meaningful cause. It has opened my eyes to the power of volunteerism and how even small efforts can make a significant impact on someone’s life.
I believe that everyone should take the time to volunteer for a cause they are passionate about. It’s a way to give back to the community and make a positive change. Personally, I have realized that I myself need to do a better job and sacrifice more of my time to volunteer and help those in need.
The newsletter you founded, “Panda Press,” is a unique initiative. What inspired you to simplify AI concepts specifically for the younger generation?
The inspiration behind founding “Panda Press” and simplifying AI concepts for the younger generation came down to my genuine interest in the topic. I have always been fascinated by the world of startups, especially those led by young CEOs on their entrepreneurial journeys. It’s incredible to witness so many AI companies emerging today, many of which are founded by individuals around my age. This inspiring trend, coupled with the practicality of AI in making our lives more efficient, motivated me to delve deeper into the subject.
However, I noticed that with the rapid growth of AI startups and applications, it becomes overwhelming for many people to comprehend them all. So, I decided to do something small but impactful by highlighting two AI companies every week in my newsletter and sharing them with my audience. My aim is to benefit everyone, regardless of their level of interest in AI, because let’s face it, AI is the driving force in today’s world and will continue to be so throughout our lifetime. As the saying goes, “Adapt or die,” and I believe it’s essential for everyone to understand and embrace this transformative technology for their future success.
Managing multiple ventures requires exceptional organizational skills. How do you balance your time and energy effectively to ensure success across your various projects?
Managing multiple ventures does indeed require exceptional organizational skills. For me, personally, it just seems to align perfectly with my personality. I thrive when I’m overwhelmed with work, and I believe I’m at my best when I have multiple projects to juggle. Being well-organized has always been a strong suit of mine, and this trait has had a profoundly positive impact on my various ventures, greatly contributing to my success. Without these organizational skills, I’d probably feel lost and unsure of how to handle the different responsibilities. It would be a real struggle to keep everything on track. But because of my natural inclination towards organization, I can effectively balance my time and energy across my various projects. This allows me to give each venture the attention and effort it deserves, leading to positive outcomes and progress in each area.
Of course, it’s essential to remain adaptable and flexible as unexpected challenges can arise. However, my organizational skills provide a solid foundation, allowing me to tackle those challenges with a structured and efficient approach.
As the founder of multiple ventures, what valuable lessons have you learned about entrepreneurship and the challenges it brings?
As the founder of multiple ventures, I’ve already learned some valuable lessons about entrepreneurship and the challenges it brings. While I may still be in the early stages of my ventures, one important lesson I can share is the need to embrace rejection. Rejection is a common part of the entrepreneurial journey, and it’s essential not to let it discourage you. When faced with rejection, I’ve learned to take a step back and reflect on why it happened. Understanding the reasons behind the rejection can provide valuable insights for improvement. It’s crucial to be open to feedback and use it as a stepping stone for growth.
Rather than being discouraged by rejection, I’ve come to see it as an opportunity to learn and refine my approach. It motivates me to strive harder, make improvements, and find better ways to move forward. This mindset shift has been empowering because it allows me to turn setbacks into valuable lessons and a chance for future success. Entrepreneurship is a journey of constant learning and adaptation, and embracing rejection as a learning experience is a key part of that process. So, I encourage aspiring entrepreneurs to see rejection as an opportunity for growth, use it to improve their strategies, and keep pushing forward with determination and resilience. And yes, I’ve learned all of this knowledge from my favorite person to read, and that is Paul Graham. I highly recommend reading all of his work; he is truly one of the great writers and minds of our generation.
Could you share some details about the platform you are currently developing to improve the job process for H-1B visa holders? What impact do you hope it will have on their experiences?
In a nutshell, I am developing an all-in-one platform to connect H-1B visa holders with companies willing to sponsor them. The platform will include additional features that will be beneficial for visa holders, which I can discuss in more detail at a later time. The goal of this platform is to provide H-1B visa holders with more opportunities and support during their job search and application process, ultimately aiming to alleviate some of the challenges they face while trying to remain in the United States. H-1B visa holders play a vital role in the U.S. economy, bringing in highly skilled and educated workers. However, it is disheartening to see that our immigration policies, like the cap on H-1B visas at 85,000, have limitations and flaws. This situation is a disgrace and puts the U.S. at a disadvantage when competing with other major economies like China.
I believe that competent reforms in the immigration process could make a significant difference. I advocate for a system that allows unlimited H-1B visas, as denying skilled workers the opportunity to contribute to our country’s growth is detrimental. Many skilled workers are opting to work in other countries with more accommodating visa policies, and this trend can hinder America’s future economic progress. If we all want America to remain the leader of the free world, we need to start by reforming our immigration policies. Immigrants are essential to our economy and if we don’t start accepting more we are only digging a further hole for ourselves in the future.
The last thing I want to mention is that I would rather choose a student getting their Ph.D. in AI and robotics 100 out of 100 times over a finance professional at Stern or Ross. If you want to debate me on this, I will gladly accept it, as I know firsthand the value that Ph.D. students in AI and robotics bring to the future compared to finance bro.

As for the H1B visa platform, my goal extends beyond the platform itself. I am deeply committed to advocating for immigration reform in the United States. I firmly believe that America’s future prosperity and global standing depend on attracting and welcoming highly skilled workers from around the world. My platform is just one piece of the puzzle, and I will actively work towards creating awareness and advocating for more inclusive immigration policies.
In the fast-paced world of finance and entrepreneurship, how do you maintain a healthy work-life balance and prevent burnout?
It’s something I struggle with every day. I don’t know how to turn it off, to be completely honest with you. I think about it when I am awake and when I am sleeping. When I find that balance, I will be sure to let you know!
As you look ahead in your career, what specific goals or milestones do you hope to achieve within the consulting industry, and how do you plan to differentiate yourself from other consultants in the field?
Working with experienced professionals and various companies, solving their unique problems, and gaining exposure to different challenges will be immensely valuable for my future growth. My primary aim is to absorb as much information and knowledge as possible from the people I work with. Learning from the expertise and experiences of my colleagues will help me develop a well-rounded skill set and a deep understanding of various industries.
To differentiate myself from other consultants in the field, I plan to focus on providing personalized and innovative solutions for each client’s specific needs. I believe that understanding the nuances of a company’s operations and challenges is crucial for delivering impactful results.
